INTRODUCTION

These 'Aerial Ropeway' pages attempt to cover some of the relics I've seen while exploring mines and quarries - usually abandoned.  I was inspired to add yet another section to my webpages having visited the still working aerial ropeway at Claughton in Lancashire, and on searching the web thereafter found no one had pulled together so much as an on-line  gazetteer.  My interest is more with the (at one time !) more common industrial uses of aerial ropeways rather than the 'quirky' passenger carrying ones.

Note: This section of my web pages are very, very much in their infancy, but as time progresses I hope to be able to fill them bit by bit.
