Summer Field Meet - Weekend 11th - 12th
June 2005
Lliwedd and Cwm Dwyfor copper mines, Snowdonia
Based at the The Royal Goat Hotel, Beddgelert, Caernarfon.

As to the programme of events, this was as follows:

Saturday 11th June - Met
at 11:00 a.m. at the carpark for the Watkin Path on the A498, 2.5
to 3 miles ENE of Beddgelert, at NGR SH 628 507 (View

In the company of the National Trust's archaeologist, a visit
was made to Lliwedd Copper Mine at Cwm-erdd,
NGR SH 634 531.

OS Map) Access to the mine involved a stiff climb - about 2,000ft.
over two miles, so for those members who did not wish to make the full
climb to the mine, after ascending the Watkin Path part way, part of the
group diverted to look at the mines and quarries in Cwm Llan.

next years meetings agreed upon.

Sunday 12th June - Met
at 10:45 a.m. at the head of Cwm Pennant NGR SH 5400 4915

OS Map) for a walk along the tramway to Cwm Dwyfor Mine at NGR
SH 542 505. (View
OS Map). For those not deterred by the rain and wind, a
visit was made to Prince of Wales slate quarry.
